emily johnson
palliative care nurse . celebrant
Emily Johnson brings a beautifully grounded blend of clinical expertise, soulful storytelling, and holistic advocacy to the end-of-life landscape. With over ten years of experience as a palliative care nurse, Emily has worked across hospice bedside care, hospital specialisms, regional research teams, and her current community role in West Yorkshire, where she trains healthcare professionals and GPs in Bradford.
In end-of-life care, her clinical and educational work focuses on remembering and honouring a person’s true essence throughout their journey. Alongside her nursing career, Emily is a trained celebrant (under Alexandra Derwen), weaving her love for storytelling through life's major thresholds.
Bridging the gap between the medical and the sacred, she engages with mortality creatively, demystifying what to expect from palliative care, fostering collaboration with end-of-life doulas, and opening up compassionate space for the big, practical, and deeply human questions surrounding death.
