KATE UNWIN . MOON & FURROW
nature and folklore sustainable artist, maker and grower
Kate Unwin is an artist, maker, and grower who founded The Moon and the Furrow in 2020 after a distinguished twenty-year career as a freelance theatre set and costume designer.
Driven by a desire for a simpler, earth-centered life, Kate relocated to Wales to build an off-grid smallholding and steward eleven acres of ancient woodland before moving to Furness. Practising daily immersion in the natural world completely fuels her creative practice, where she crafts beautiful illustrations, textiles, and functional art inspired by folklore, changing seasons, plant medicine, and lunar cycles.
With sustainability at the absolute core of her business, her work spans from magical, intricately detailed prints to eco-conscious, washable organic cotton handkerchiefs. Through The Moon and the Furrow, Kate masterfully blends her extensive background in visual storytelling with ancestral heritage, creating purposeful pieces designed to celebrate and protect our connection to the planet. Kate will be running ritualised making workshops over the weekend helping us to work with the wheel of the year to embrace nature’s cycles of death and re-birth.
