grief tending in community

Sophy’s understanding of shared grief work started through attending workshops of Joanna Macy and Sobonfu Somé and later through working with Maeve Gavin. She has been growing Grief Tending in Community for over a decade (since 2013) to share practices of tending grief together, offering talks, workshops in many formats, and supporting facilitators of grief work in the Apprenticing programme and beyond.

“The work of surfacing, witnessing and making meaning of our pain is crucial to transforming the systems of violence and inequality that pervade the modern world.”

Tending Grief Together:
Held on Sunday morning this will be a specific space to honour and tend grief in its widest sense - our sorrow, rage, numbness, love, loss and more. All sources of grief are welcome - personal, collective, what is old and new. Drawing on what supports and holds us in life we'll co-create a grief ceremony which includes the chance to offer something representing our grief into the coffin that will be carried later in the day.
